The Blessed Nation, Pt. 4

The Blessed Nation, Pt. 4

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people He has chosen as His own inheritance."

(Psalm 33:12)

Everyone desires to be blessed. No one would ever say, "No thanks. I do not want God's blessings, but I will take His curses and judgments." God will bless every person, home, church, business, and nation that acknowledges and honors Him. Psalm 33 gives details into the character and nature of God. He is the LORD, and He chooses to bless those who acknowledge Him as Lord of all.

Psalm 33:15 just grabbed my heart: "He fashions their hearts individually." God has created every living soul, and we are each unique. We have our own physical bodies, DNA, and fingerprints. If this is true, and God indeed fashioned you, then oh, how valuable and precious you are to Him. The Hebrew word translated "fashions" is yatsar, which means to squeeze into shape, like a potter does his clay (Strong's Concordance in Logos). God loves diversity; just look at the people He has made. The same Hebrew word yatsar is used in Psalm 139:16, "Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them."

Psalm 33:18 says, "Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy." What a grand way to worship God: to fear Him, stand in awe of Him, and be amazed at His nature, character, and mighty power to create and to destroy, to lift up and bring down. His eye is on those who fear Him. To fear God is to have the utmost respect for Him. Always keep in mind, it means what it says: we are to fear God, knowing that He has the power to bless and to punish.

We are certainly a nation that has drifted far from the Bible's clear teaching on so many ethical and moral issues. In the name of tolerance and in the worship of the goddess of sex, many have discarded what Scripture and common sense clearly teach. For example, life is created by God and is sacred. We should honor and defend the most helpless of us all: those in the womb and those who are very frail and near the tomb. Any type of sex outside marriage, be it heterosexual or homosexual, is forbidden by God. Marriage is a sacred covenant created by God and given the parameters by Him. It is to be between one man and one woman. God determines our biological sex. It only makes common sense that men would compete athletically against men and women against women.

What I have just stated are clear biblical teachings. Many, if not most in our nation, disagree. By far, most students disagree, because they only hear from one side. Do I hate people that disagree with me? No, I do not. I have had civil disagreements and debates with people on these issues, but there is coming a day (perhaps it is here already) when there will no longer be room for debate. If you hold to these clear biblical teachings, then many believe you are evil and should be punished.

Let us remain strong and resolved to fear God, serve Him, be faithful to Him, and allow Him to vindicate us. These are trying days, no doubt, but blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD. I believe it is theologically accurate to add: blessed is the individual or family whose God is the LORD.
