"Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers... About three o'clock in the morning, Jesus came toward them, walking on the water."

You may be familiar with these miracles! What a scene this must have been for the disciples! First, they saw Jesus feed the crowd of over 5,000 people with what started as five loaves and two fish. Then they saw Jesus walk on water and one of their own (Peter) walk on water too. Then, when Jesus got into the boat, a raging storm was calmed. What a day to be a disciple of Jesus!
I wonder what it was like to be there for the duration of Matthew 13:53-14:36. To watch Jesus be rejected in Nazareth, to watch Him mourn the loss of His friend, to watch Him have compassion on the crowd, to watch Him miraculously feed 5,000 people, and to watch him walk on the water. When I read these passages last week, my mind was filled with awe and wonder about the miracles of Jesus.
I want to leave you with awe and wonder at Jesus' miracles today. Truly, think about the miracles of feeding the 5,000 and walking on water. It is amazing to think about those miracles which the disciples saw firsthand. To think that they had front-row seats to the countless miracles of Jesus makes me a little jealous, to be honest, but it also makes me thankful they recorded all those miracles for us to know about today.
With all the recorded miracles that Jesus did, now think about the miracles you have seen in your own life. Think about when you went from death to life, when Jesus saved you from your sin and saved you from eternity apart from Him. Think about when God gave you a child. If you don't have a child yet, think about when God gave someone you love a child. Think about waking up this morning; even that is a gift and miracle from God, that He sustains you and loves you enough to wake you up this morning.
Jesus' miracles are all around us all the time, and I think we should do what Matthew did: He wrote them down! As you are thinking and dwelling on all of these miracles, write them down in your journal. If you don't journal, take a piece of paper and write down the miracles you have seen in your life. Jesus' miracles can be all around us if we look for them; let's be people who are constantly in awe of Jesus and constantly in awe and appreciation of the miracles that Jesus allows us to see and be a part of!
