No matter what exterior we may be putting out there to the world, Jesus looks at our hearts! We need to make sure that our hearts are all about Him!

Heart of Worship

Today, I want to throw it back and talk about the song "Heart of Worship". If you have not heard this song by Matt Redman, it is an amazing one. The song came out of a season where his church made a radical change. The pastor of his church thought that the congregation was getting too into the production of music, so he took out the instruments and sound system to make sure the main thing, Jesus, was the main thing. After this season, came these lyrics:

I'm comin' back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
When it's all about You
It's all about You, Jesus

This is what our worship should always be about: Jesus. I know I can get into the "preference" of worship songs. I will hear a song and think, "I don't really like the sound of that," and I haven't even given notice to the lyrics of the song. Or, "that song was awesome," and I am only judging it off the beat and rhythm, and not the lyrics. These lyrics remind me: it's all about Jesus!

Another part of the song goes like this:

I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the ways things appear
You're looking into my heart

Jesus looks at the heart. This song is a great reminder that no matter what exterior we may be putting out there to the world, Jesus looks at our hearts! We need to make sure that our hearts are all about King Jesus and that our worship is for Him and Him only.
