Get in the Dirt!

Get in the Dirt!

In the crazy times in which we live, it is extra important to get outside
and do things with the people you love. Be active and get some fresh air!

Get in the Dirt!

REvangelical is the name of our podcast ministry at DFEA. It is hard to believe that we have now recorded 232 episodes; that is over four years' worth of recordings! I am grateful to God for the opportunity to teach and reach many through this popular means of communicating today. We have around 9,000 people receiving our daily devotions and weekly podcasts. Thanks for your prayers for this ministry. We are truly grateful to God for your prayers and support that enable us to keep on keeping on, impacting the lives of many for the Kingdom of God.

I am doing more and more interviews on the podcast. We are currently showing the interview that Ashley and I did with Bob and Gayle Gaines. They are a delightful Christian couple who Ashley and I have known since 2004. Bob was the Sunday school director of the Passion Class, a Bible study I taught at FBC Colleyville, TX. Bob and Gayle are the parents of Chip Gaines, co-host of the hit TV show, Fixer Upper, with his wife, Joanna. They told us some really neat stories of how God worked in miraculous ways to bless Chip and Joanna, and how today they are a blessing to so many. Take a listen to the two episodes. The first one is available now, and the second one will be available this Saturday. I believe you are going to be blessed by this couple and their love for Jesus and their family.
Gayle made a statement during the interview that has really stuck with me. She talked about how important it is to get in the dirt. By that, she means get outside, do something with your family where you get a little dirt and mud on you, and enjoy life. When I asked Bob and Gayle about how they made it through the pandemic, they replied that they did not just survive the pandemic, but they thrived. They were able to spend a lot of time together with their family and do things outside. One thing they did was buy a lake house that needed a little fixing up. And that is what they did as a family. Can you imagine the fun the Gaines Family had on this house project and the good job they did!

Times are still hard for so many. People around the world are trying to get access to a vaccine. There is still a lot of stress and unknowns. But I encourage you to make the most of your days and do as the Gaines family encouraged us to do: that is, get a little dirt on you; get outside and enjoy God's creation. It will do your soul and your family much good.

Ashley and I enjoy going for walks. We do not get much dirt on us, but we do enjoy simply being together and being outside. We often walk the trail at Brushy Creek, located very close to our apartment where we are living until our new home is completed. I told Ashley recently that one of the highlights of my life is going on these walks with her. It is so fun and relaxing. We do get our steps in and go for a couple of miles, but more than anything, we just talk and enjoy being outside together in God's beautiful world.

So, get outside and have some fun!

In our broken world… you can still live each day with hope!

An Interview with the Gaines, Pt. 1

Pastor Danny and his wife, Ashley, welcome to the show their friends Bob and Gayle Gaines. You may know Bob and Gayle as the parents of Chip Gaines, co-host of the hit TV show, Fixer Upper, with his wife, Joanna. Danny and Ashley became good friends with Bob and Gayle in their time at the First Baptist Church of Colleyville, TX, where Danny and Bob co-led a Sunday school class together. In this first part of their interview, the four discuss how Bob and Gayle met the Lord and each other, fell in love, got married, and raised their family. They also share parenting stories and tips. You'll love this great four-way discussion!
