Bedtime Devotions with Jesus Bible

HarperCollins Publishing has produced a brand-new devotional Bible
just for kids, and I am honored to have helped contribute to it.

The Bedtime Devotions with Jesus Bible

"Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me."

(Matthew 18:3-4)

HarperCollins Publishing has produced a brand-new devotional Bible just for kids. In fact, it is the first translation of the Bible prepared just for children. In the Preface it reads, "The International Children's Bible is not a storybook or a paraphrase Bible. It is a translation of God's word from the original Hebrew and Greek languages." Not all the verses in the Bible are included, but many are, and there are devotions written just for kids sprinkled throughout the book.

I am honored to have helped contribute to this unique children's devotional Bible. I chuckle now when I look back on what the graphic designer from HarperCollins wrote to me when she gave instructions regarding the devotions:
"Please keep in mind these 125-word devotions should be written for children ages 4-8. Please use language a child of that age would understand (no big words)."

I and the other contributors attempted to do just that and write in a way young children can understand. The finished product is a beautiful hard-bound book that is very kid-friendly.

Here is a picture of the book:
One of the many remarkable things about Jesus Christ was the way He treated children. He loved them, and they loved Him too. In the Scripture verse for today's devotion, He elevates children to an unprecedented level. Jesus said that when we receive a child in His name, then it is the same as receiving Him. Wow, that is a powerful statement from our Lord. I think it is safe to assume that the opposite is true as well: if we mistreat or neglect a child, then we reject Jesus.

If you are a parent and have children in your home, especially little ones, the greatest gift you can give them is a knowledge of who God is. You will help construct a foundation for them that will last a lifetime on earth and into eternity.
When our kids were young, we talked a lot about Jesus in our home. We often had devotional times with them, and we prayed with them every night. I have no regrets in doing this for our kids!

The Bedtime Devotions with Jesus Bible will be available soon through our ministry, and I invite you to pick one up for your child or grandchild. The advanced copy I received a few weeks back, I gave to you-know-who: the little one in this picture!
