When you look upon a majestic sight in nature, whether it is an ocean sparkling and glistening with shades of turquoise and soft blue, or a mountain jettisoning the sky, or a star-filled sky, you have two options before you: believe that God created it all, or believe that He did not. The Bible unequivocally asserts the former, but a purely humanist and atheistic worldview posits the latter. Psalm 19:1 states, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork." It is illogical to believe that the universe came from nothing, life from non-living matter, human intelligence from non-intelligence, or that beauty is only an accident. It is much more reasonable and logical to believe in an all-powerful God who created everything and everyone and holds all things together by His power, precisely as the Scriptures assert (see Genesis 1:1 and Colossians 1:16, which says, "For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.")
As many in our world spiral out of control and give into the temptations of fear and panic, it is a wonderful blessing to know God and have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ. As the hymn states it, "What have I to dread, what I have to fear leaning on the everlasting arms? I have blessed peace with my Lord so near leaning on the everlasting arms."
We have two options before us in times of crises: lean on Jesus, or be overcome by fear and panic. Which will you choose today?
