My Friend Kayleigh

My Friend Kayleigh

Kayleigh Williamson and her mom, Sandy, are members of our church. I want
you to meet Kayleigh and be both blessed and challenged by her amazing life.

My Friend Kayleigh

"But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint."

(Isaiah 40:31)

Kayleigh Williamson and her mom, Sandy, are members of our church here in Austin, TX, Great Hills Baptist Church. I think everyone in the church knows and loves them. They are both inspirational in many ways.
Kayleigh loves the Lord and her family and is always quick to give a smile and a hug.

I took this picture with her a couple weeks ago on a Sunday morning.

In today's devotional, I want you to meet Kayleigh and be both blessed and challenged by her amazing life.
I must also say a word about Sandy, Kayleigh's mom. She is a wonderful Christian lady who supports her daughter 100%. Sandy, like many in our church, is a single mom, and what an inspiration she is to so many. I told one of our single mothers at GHBC recently that she and all those like her are my heroes. Perhaps you are a single mom or single dad, and you are reading this devotional today. Please know that I think you are amazing. It's remarkable what you do for your kids. May God bless you and strengthen you to accomplish all He puts in your heart to do.

As you can probably tell from all the medals Kayleigh has in our photograph, she is a runner. She has completed multiple half marathons. Isn't that cool?!

I asked Sandy to list for me some of the other things Kayleigh has done. She mentioned many accomplishments, and then she added, "After her first race, Kayleigh's story had been viewed online more than 3 million times around the world—including in countries like Greenland, where they are trying to eradicate babies with Down Syndrome." Who knows how many lives Kayleigh's story may have impacted and will continue to impact for the better. It's amazing the reach and positive influence one inspirational person can have.
Kayleigh is also an author!

The title of her book is, It's Cool to Be Me (pictured left).

It really is amazing what people can do when they are inspired by God, supported by those who love them, believe in their dreams, and have the discipline to just do it.
Do you have any goals you want to accomplish? I hope you are inspired and motivated by sweet Kayleigh to step out and go for it. Will it be hard? Absolutely! Will it be worth it? Indeed, it will be worth it all! I am often asked why I run marathons and compete in triathlons. It has taken me a while to process that question, and there are many answers I could give, but one sure reason why I put my body through such arduous training and races is the thrill of finishing. To cross the finish line and know I have given my best and accomplished another goal... well, that is enough reward for me.

Can I encourage you in the pursuit of your goals? With God's inspiration and your perspiration, you can do it!
