Serving Well When All is Not Well

Serving Well When All is Not Well

How do you keep going and do the right thing even in tough times? How do you press ahead when there are unresolved issues or ambiguities in your life?

Serving Well When All is Not Well

"God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn."

(Psalm 46:5)

MLB and NBA athletes, coaches, and trainers must have a resolve made of steel. These pros have very long and arduous seasons. Perhaps you are thinking that if you got paid millions of dollars to play a sport you love, you would be fine with that. I hear you. But think about the discipline and determination it must take on the part of these athletes to play day in and day out, crisscrossing the nation. You know there have to be times when they do not feel well or there are major issues in their personal lives and families. But they show up. They are expected to give their all, especially for the fans who have paid lots of money to come and watch them.

All of us are going to have tough seasons in life, yet as the old adage says, "the show must go on." How do you keep going and do the right thing even when you are going through a tough time? How do you press ahead when there are unresolved issues or ambiguities in your life? Some of you are living in this season currently. You are perhaps serving the Lord in ministry, yet you are in a tough way. How do you serve the Lord faithfully and lead your ministry area well when you are personally in the valley of "not yet", "unresolved", uncertainty, or ambiguity?

Here are a few truths from God's Word to encourage and help you. These practical pointers that I share with you have been born out of my own seasons of proceeding forward when not all is well. Based on Psalm 46:5, let us be encouraged by these truths:
  1. God is with you. He will not desert you in your time of need. He knows you are struggling and yet have many responsibilities. Count your blessings. Keep praying, reading the Word, and doing what you know are the right things to do.

  2. You will make it. You will not be moved. Better days are coming. You are strong in the Lord.

  3. God will help you. Trust God. You know He will come through for you just like He has every time in the past.

  4. His timing is perfect. Serve with joy and faithfulness, and give your best. When it is time, the Lord will send a breakthrough. You will not always be in this season.
Thank you for being faithful even in the hard seasons of life. You are blessing so many people and probably have no idea how much God is using you. Keep going. Persevere! God has you.

Psalm 30:5 states:
"For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning."
