"Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child."
(Luke 2:17)
Praise the Lord, it is December 1; only 24 more days until Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year! I pray that you and your loved ones have a blessed Holiday Season. Let me encourage you to be sure to talk to other people about the Lord, as many are more open to the Gospel of Jesus at this special time of year. The Lord has been so kind to bless my family recently with multiple opportunities to share Christ and invite many to visit our church. Here is one of those stories: we invited some missionaries to stay in our home while we traveled to Israel (today we board our flight to the Holy Land). The missionaries were very appreciative and one of the comments she made was she was looking forward to being able to wash their clothes. That same night, our washing machine died. It had a good run, about 15 years, but it bit the dust. The next day, Ashley and I went to Home Depot to buy another one, and while we were there, God gave us some great opportunities to share Jesus with two people: Mario and Bell.
It was so neat how open they were to the good news of Jesus. Bell listened and was appreciative of what I shared with her, but Mario was very much interested because he too loves Jesus. We had a wonderful time talking to him about the Lord and how just that morning he had an opportunity to share with a customer who opened up to him about his struggles. Ashley and I bought a new washing machine, but that was not the primary reason we went to Home Depot. We were there to share the good news of the Messiah and to fellowship with another believer.
I have heard it said, "There are more people willing to hear about Jesus Christ than there are those who are willing to witness for the Lord." Please do not let that be you. If you know the Lord as your Savior, then you are His witness. He has assignments for you to fulfill each day. When you go and share with another person about the Lord, some wonderful things happen:
- You please the Lord. God the Father loves it when His children brag on His Son Jesus and point others to Him.
- You will have the grand privilege of sharing the gospel with another soul. You will be able to share your testimony of how Jesus has changed your life.
- If the person is already a believer, then you will be able to fellowship with a brother or sister in Christ.
All three of these things are fantastic!
How about you? Will you pray and ask the Lord to send laborers into the harvest (Matthew 9:37-38)? When you pray this prayer, prepare yourself, because the first person the Lord will look to send is you! Be open, available, and willing to witness for Jesus. He will use you. He will bless others through your faithfulness and obedience.
