If you know the Lord, there is no doubt that you are called and commissioned by God to be a witness for Jesus Christ.

And he who wins souls is wise."

(Proverbs 11:30)

Liberty Hill, TX, where we live, has become a melting pot of multiple nationalities and ethnic groups. I love how God has brought the world to our doorsteps. The immigrants that I have met are very kind and appreciative of the opportunity to live in our country. Few, however, know Jesus as their Savior and Lord. But that is where I and all followers of Jesus come into the picture!

Last Wednesday evening, our north church campus, called Connect Church Liberty Hill, had a backyard Bible club for the children. Many kids sat on the artificial turf and enjoyed a Bible story, crafts, and snacks. Here is a picture of me assisting my son Leighton as he taught the children from John 4 about how Jesus interacted with the woman at the well:
After the Bible club time, we all went among those in the park area, and we shared Jesus with them. It was so much fun! Of the three men I shared with, first was a man from Hyderabad, India. God leads me to so many Indian people, and I always enjoy speaking with them. Their eyes light up when I tell them I have been to India a dozen times. Each one whom I have met is a Hindu. But this particular man told me that Hinduism is more a cultural identity than it is a real religion. He said the people simply worship what they feel will benefit them. For example, since they need the soil to produce a crop, they worship the ground or the soil. It was interesting to listen to this man's perspective on his religion. He was open and listened to what I shared about the Lord Jesus Christ.

The next man I spoke to on this nice Wednesday evening at the HUB, our neighborhood hangout, was from Ukraine. He and his son were hanging out by the swing set. My wife, Ashley, was speaking to him initially, and then I joined the conversation. I told him that I pray every day for his country, and he appreciated that. He, understandably, has much bitterness toward the nation of Russia. He said his people were a very peace-loving, kind people, but they are being attacked by a ruthless nation. I shared with him that the human heart is very wicked, and my heart was also very wicked before I became a follower of Jesus. But Jesus changed me. He listened as I shared about how Jesus changes lives.

The next man I spoke with was intimidating. He was very fit, had multiple tattoos, and simply did not appear to be the type to talk about spiritual matters... or so I thought. He was very kind, a good conversationalist, and open to me sharing with him and inviting him to our church. God is so kind to give us opportunities to share the good news. At times, however, to discover those divine appointments, we must get out of our comfort zones and go and seek after the lost, like Jesus did in John 4.

If you know the Lord, there is no doubt that you are called and commissioned by God to be a witness for Jesus Christ. Will you be open to doing this today? When God opens the door to share Jesus, will you walk through that door?
