"In a loud voice they were saying:'Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!'"
(Revelation 5:12, CSB)
Happy Independence Day, my fellow Americans! Let's start this day of celebrating our blessings and freedoms by thanking the One Who placed us here and on Whom we are truly dependent! Above all others, He is greatly to be praised!
If you have not heard the song " Greatly to Be Praised" yet, I would HIGHLY encourage you to go give it a listen! This song is amazing for so many reasons. Let me share with you the chorus:
Holy, holy
Is the Lord almighty
Worthy, worthy
Is Your name
And all the glory
To the Lamb forever
Worthy, worthy is Your name
Greatly to be praised
This is repeated a few times throughout the song. I have loved listening to this song because this chorus really brings my mind to heaven! This makes me think of Heaven because of the words ascribed to Jesus in Revelation 5, and it makes my heart and mind long to be with the one who is holy, worthy, and greatly to be praised. While this makes me think of Heaven, it also makes me want to tell other people about Jesus. When I think of Heaven and of being with the One who is holy, worthy, and greatly to be praised, I want everyone that I know to be in Heaven worshiping King Jesus with me for all eternity! Here is another part of the song:
All our sorrow
And our suffering
Now preparing a weight of glory
For the moment
When we see You face to face
This part is the climax in the bridge before it goes into the chorus again. The song builds to a crescendo in the chorus of "holy, holy".
Why am I explaining to you what happens in this song? Because the structure of the song emphasizes the words being sung, which are so powerful and important. It is so encouraging to know that our sorrow and suffering are not wasted here on earth. They are "preparing a weight of glory for the moment when we see [Jesus] face to face!" What a thought! What a great encouragement!
Just from these two parts of the song, I hope you can see this is a great worship song for you to personally sing to King Jesus, because He is so worthy and greatly to be praised!
