To survive and even thrive while being hated and persecuted, we need to be "big carrot" people for God. What am I talking about? Read on to find out!

Deep Verses Shallow

"Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution."

(2 Timothy 3:12)

God is preparing His church here on earth to live with Him in heaven. This pruning, preparing, and molding is not easy but is so necessary. Can you imagine the spiritual power and influence we would have if we were so poor in spirit that we rejoiced in persecution? We would be a spiritual force for Jesus that Satan could not withstand! We would be Gospel-advancers in our neighborhoods, cities, and the ends of the earth. We would not have time to focus on the trivial and pedantic, but we would be absorbed with unity and shining outwardly for Christ.

To survive and even thrive while being hated and persecuted, we need to be "big carrot" people for God:
I don't wish to be like the carrot with the leafy top but little substance underneath. I would rather be like the carrot that has little outward showiness, not caring about things with no eternal impact, but full of substance, focused on what matters most. Living as Jesus taught us in the Sermon on the Mount will make us unified, focused, "big carrot" people with great substance and much to offer lost souls.

To experience suffering because of our faith is hard to imagine in the USA. But God's people all over the world are standing strong for Jesus, and for many, it costs them their very lives. These dedicated saints are not spiritually shallow but substantive and hearty.

May the Lord help each one of us get to where we are walking so closely with God so that when we are persecuted, we do not murmur, complain, or retaliate; rather, we count it all joy and rejoice.
