What a Trip! (Pt. 1)

What a Trip! (Pt. 1)

"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'"

(Isaiah 6:8)

God blessed our team of five as we served the Lord in two Asian countries for 13 days, returning home at the end of last week. I have participated in many mission trips since 1997, the year I made a commitment to Christ to go to the nations every year. I was able to maintain that commitment up until 2020, when traveling was not possible due to COVID restrictions. But now, I am back at it and love it. We had so many people praying for us, and we could tell. All went smoothly, especially considering the logistics of traveling to two countries halfway around the world.

In the first part of our trip, I preached six times at a conference for persecuted pastors. It was very humbling and deeply enriching to be able to do this. I felt, however, that they were the ones that should be preaching to me instead of me preaching to them! There is much to learn from them. These godly men from multiple nations gathered for a time of fellowship, relaxation, and hearing the Word of God. I preached from Acts 20, Paul's message to the elders of the Church in Ephesus. The last message I shared with them focused on going after their "ones" as Jesus modeled and taught us in Luke 15:4: "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?"

In this week's devotions, I will be sharing details about this trip that I hope will inspire you as a follower of Jesus. There is so much going on in our nation and world that discourages us. But let me assure you, God is on the move! He is working and changing lives, and His Kingdom is advancing in some of the darkest places on earth.

For Giving Tuesday this year (November 29th), DFEA is highlighting the work we have done and will continue to do for the persecuted church. On this day, let me encourage and ask you to make a generous donation to our ministry as we continue to reach many through social media, devotions, podcasts, and conferences like the one we helped with in Asia over the past few weeks.

Be sure to read this week's devotions as I recount from my journal the amazing work God did with our team in Asia for those two weeks. Thank you for all your prayers and support for our ministry. What a blessing from the Lord it is to serve Jesus and His Church in the ways He is allowing me to.
