"I will proclaim the name of the Lord; how glorious is our God! He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect. Everything he does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright he is!"
(Deuteronomy 32:3-4, NLT)
Today's song that I want to encourage you to add to your daily listening is the song "What A God" by SEU Worship. This song is so great to listen to, and honestly, it will get you EXCITED! The chorus is pretty simple:
What a God
That is a simple phrase, but a profound and true theological statement. When we think about God, many things come to mind. When I think about the statement, "What a God," my mind goes to the names of God that try to describe our indescribable God! Here are a few names and their meaning:
Elohim: Powerful God and Covenant Keeper, Creator God
El Elyon: God Most High, Possessor and Provider, Deliverer
El Shaddai: Almighty God, Giver of blessings
Jehovah Jireh: The LORD Provides; He provides for our salvation and needs
Jehovah Nissi: The LORD is our Banner
Jehovah Rohi: The LORD is my Shepherd; He leads and feeds His sheep
Jehovah Sabaoth: The LORD of Hosts
El Roi: The God Who Sees
If Jesus has saved you, that is who you have a relationship with! When you look at just those names (and there are so many more), you cannot help but exclaim, what a God! The song's bridge goes like this:
If the highest place I reached is at Your feet
Then I've done it all
If the best thing that I've seen is Your glory
Then I've seen it all
Your love has changed my life
Forever satisfied
God, You are my everything
I love this bridge because it gives such a great perspective on what it means to get a glimpse of God. The bridge screams of the properly humble and awestruck posture we all should have toward our amazing God! If we only reach God's feet, then that would be enough! If we get a glimpse of God's glory, that surpasses everything else we can see! Then it goes on to declare God's love, and it finally ends with the only response we as humans can give to a holy and amazing God like our God: everything!
Today, listen to this song, and don't be surprised when the volume on your stereo just keeps going up and up as the song goes on!
What a God!
