The End of My Recent Trip to Israel

The End of My Recent Trip to Israel

What an amazing trip to Israel. Thank You, Lord, for the privilege to be able to go.

The End of My Recent Trip to Israel

On December 5th, we traveled to Samaria, where the Governor of Samaria met with us. It reminds me of how Jesus in John 4 said He must go through Samaria. While there, He met the woman at the well. She believed in Jesus and told those in the city about the Messiah. They came out to hear Him, and many Samaritans gave their lives to Christ. This is one of my favorite stories in the Bible!

Next, we drove to Shiloh, a historic ancient biblical site that I had never visited. When God led Joshua and the Israelites across the Jordan River into the Promised Land, they made Shiloh their home for 380 years. The Tabernacle remained there for almost 4 centuries.

The next couple days, I got up early to go on a run with some of my new friends I made on this trip. Max, David, and I ran 3 miles in the city of Jerusalem and visited each one of the 14 stations of the cross. Then our entire group went to Garden Tomb twice and enjoyed a very moving worship service. Then we went back into Jerusalem and walked with Henry, our excellent tour guide.

On December 6th, I got up at 5:00 a.m. and ran 6 miles through the Mt. of Olives with David. He showed me the Pillar of Absalom (commemorating when David fled from him) and the Tomb of Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist. It was so cool to do this. Later that day, Mike Evans preached on the Mt. of Olives where Jesus ascended to heaven. He shared the true story of Corrie ten Boom. She told Mike her story, how she asked God for a birthday gift while she was a prisoner at Ravensbrück concentration camp. She felt that the Lord told her that His gift to her was Psalm 91:16, which says, "I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation." Nearly 40 years later, Corrie died at age 91, on her birthday!

We also visited the Friends of Zion Museum, and it is such a spectacular place. I wish everyone had the opportunity to go and visit it. Later that day we had the closing ceremonies of the Ambassadors Summit. It was done very well with multiple speakers, including Mike Huckabee and Johnnie Moore. There were many panels, and each one was very informative. I got to speak on the last panel for about five minutes. I am grateful to God for that opportunity.

On Monday, we drove to the Sea of Galilee area, and Henry gave us a private tour of Capernaum and Magdala, as well as his kibbutz where he lives; we were able to meet some of his family. He suggested we come back and do some mission work. I thought that was a great idea and hope to come back to Israel with a group and ask Henry to be our guide.
What an amazing trip to Israel. Thank You, Lord, for the privilege to be able to go. I hope you get the chance to visit the Holy Land. It truly is a remarkable journey.
