Why Jesus Christ?

Why Jesus Christ?

The most famous and recognizable person in all of history is widely considered to be Jesus Christ. Do you know Him?

Why Jesus Christ?

"Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

(Philippians 2:9-11)

While preparing for a message I was going to preach at the Go Tell Camp last month, I asked my friends at Chat GPT who was the most famous and recognizable person ever? Here is the response:
The most famous and recognizable person in all of history is widely considered to be Jesus Christ.
  • Global Recognition: Nearly every culture on Earth recognizes his name or image, whether through religion, art, or history.
  • Religious Impact: Central figure of Christianity—the world's largest religion with over 2 billion followers.
  • Historical Influence: The calendar (B.C./A.D. or B.C.E./C.E.) is based on his estimated birth year.
  • Cultural Legacy: His teachings have deeply shaped ethics, laws, holidays, art, music, and literature across continents for over 2,000 years.
  • Iconography: His image (cross, crucifixion, the robe and beard look) is among the most replicated and instantly recognized in human history.
Other Contenders (But Less Global in All Aspects):
  • Muhammad (founder of Islam): Hugely influential and revered, especially in Muslim-majority nations.
  • Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama): Central to Buddhism, with broad influence across Asia.
  • Albert Einstein: Icon of modern science; his face and hair are cultural shorthand for "genius."
  • William Shakespeare: Dominant in literature, but less globally recognized visually.
  • Adolf Hitler: Infamous and widely known, but for negative reasons.
Still, in terms of recognition, influence, and enduring legacy worldwide, Jesus Christ stands at the top.
I agree with Chat GPT! Far more important than AI's estimation of the role of Jesus is the Word of God. Scripture teaches very clearly who Jesus is and how He is indeed incomparable; there is no one like Him! The Apostle Paul wrote our focal text for today's devotion. What a statement of who Jesus is. Notice he said "every knee". Every person who has ever lived will confess that Jesus is Lord. Many of these people will not be in heaven, but even in hell, they will admit the undeniable truth of the supremacy and royalty of Jesus Christ.

Do you know Him? If not, I encourage you to embrace Jesus by faith and bend your knees to Him in worship now. If not in this life, you still will eventually acknowledge Him as Lord. Please do not wait until it is too late.
