"To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."
(Ephesians 3:21)
In the song, "Yes I will", Vertical Worship declares in the chorus:
Yes I will, lift You high in the lowest valley
Yes I will, bless Your name
Oh, yes I will, sing for joy when my heart is heavy
All my days, oh yes I will
Let all of us today join in this song of praise declaring God's praise by blessing His name and singing for joy. Why do that, especially if your heart is heavy and you are suffering? Because God is worthy, and a sacrifice of praise is especially worshipful to God.
Verse 21: to Him, to God the Father be the "glory" (Greek doxa - magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, grace) IN THE CHURCH. (Source: BlueletterBible.org) The church, ekklesia, literally the called-out ones: we are the people of God in this generation.
It pleases the Father when we give Him glory, when we in the church worship Christ Jesus, God's only Son, our blessed Savior. "In all generations" refers to time on earth and "forever and ever" means for all eternity. We exist on earth temporally and in heaven for eternity to give Him worship and praise, and this pleases the Father. God's power is unleashed upon a people that will honor and worship His Son. When we His people, the church, honor our sacred Head, when we walk in unity and use our gifts for His glory, when we give, serve, and obey the Son of God, I believe it is for that church that God opens up the floodgates of heaven and pours out divine blessings more than we can imagine.
Will you trust God to do exceedingly abundantly above in your life? God can do more than we can imagine because of the power of His Spirit living within us. Do you believe that is for you or for a select group of super-saints? It is for you and me and every other child of God!
"Think of His work in the lives of Abraham, Moses, Gideon, David, Elijah (a man like us according to James 5:17–18), Isaiah, Nehemiah, the disciples, and the church. God is able to do extraordinary things through ordinary people by His power at work within them." (Source: Merida, T. (2014). Exalting Jesus in Ephesians (p. 91). Holman Reference.)
Will you believe God for more for your life, marriage, children, and grandchildren? The blessings of heaven await those who trust and obey God. God's ways are not easy, but they are best, and when we line our lives up under what God says, then we will be blessed–blessed more than we can imagine–and the response of our hearts will be: "To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." (Ephesians 3:21)
