"For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus."
(Galatians 3:26, NLT)
Yesterday I mentioned that Kyndall and I have two little boys, and today I want to tell you about the moment we got each one of them! You might be thinking that is a strange way to say that, but let me explain. Our first son was graciously placed in our family through adoption. Kyndall and I got a phone call on a Tuesday night that there was a baby boy many states away who was just born and ready to be adopted. We met our son and his brave birthmom on Wednesday and walked out of the hospital with him on Thursday. I will never forget walking into that hospital room and seeing Tabor there. I didn't know what I would feel, think, or say internally in that moment, but when it happened, all I could think about, say internally, and feel was, "That is our son."
Our second son was born thirteen months later! When Tabor was six months old, we found out we were pregnant, and we were over-the-moon excited! Kyndall first had the idea, and I was quickly on board, to wait until the baby was delivered to find out the baby's gender. We waited nine months, had our baby names ready, and headed into our induction date giddy about this new baby about to be in our family. After laboring and Kyndall being an absolute champ, Forshee baby number two was born, and the doctor boldly and emphatically declared, "It's a boy!" Miller was son number two to us, and I remember when they gave him to Kyndall, I had that same overwhelming feeling, that same thought, and those same words came to mind as the first time I saw Tabor, but this time, they were for Miller: "That is our son."
Why am I telling you about these moments? When you come to faith in Christ, you become a child of God! You, in the eyes of a Heavenly Father, are seen, viewed, and identified as a son or daughter of God! He looks at you with love, compassion, kindness, tenderness, and affection, and He emphatically declares, "That is my son!" or "That is my daughter!" Think about that truth for a second: you are a child of God. You are a son or daughter of God. He looks at you with love, tenderness, kindness, and grace. He desires for you to be close to Him and be a son or daughter who loves Him back. When I think of the truth that I am a child of God because of the work of Jesus Christ, I get overwhelmed with joy and emotion.
Today, bask and dwell on the truth that you are a child of God.
