"But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)."
(Ephesians 2:4-5)
Micah Tyler is one of my favorite Christian artists. He has many popular songs played on contemporary Christian music stations. His latest hit might be my favorite of all the songs he has sung. The name of the song is "Perfectly". Here are some of the lyrics:
I would be perfect
If it wasn't for the little ways I fall short every day of my life
I would be perfect
If it wasn't for the million things that I never can seem to get right
But I got this peace inside
'Cause I know that every time
I give You failures and You give me grace
All of my problems don't push You away
And somehow You love somebody like me
Don't know how You do it, but You do it perfectly
You do it perfectly
Oh, perfectly known, perfectly made
Because of the cross, I am perfectly saved.
Check out that last line again; is that not powerful and true? We are very imperfect, sinful people. We are sinners by nature and by choice. We can all say with John Newton who wrote the hymn, "Amazing Grace": "I am a great sinner, but Jesus is a great Savior." Because of the cross we can be perfectly saved, made new, born again, redeemed. Praise the Lord for His saving grace!
No matter how bad things get on this earth, we as followers of Jesus can press on with joy and purpose. On the worst days we can thank God that as hard as it may be for us currently, we are not going to hell; we are heaven-bound people!
Do you need a spiritual pick-me-up? Take a minute and listen to "Perfectly", and I am sure you will be glad you did! You can listen to the song here. |
