"Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is."
(1 John 3:2)
One of my favorite Christian bands was FFH. They were very well known in the late 1990s and early 2000s. FFH consisted of only four band members, with Jeromy and Jennifer Diebler as the primary singers in the band. They proved the adage, "nobody can harmonize like family." In two of the churches I served, I invited them to come and do a concert. Recently, thanks to Apple Music (on Spotify, FFH has 71,000 monthly listeners), I can listen to any of their songs! So, for the last few weeks I have been jamming out to "One of These Days," "Lord Move, or Move Me," "Ready to Fly," and others as well. Perhaps the song "One of These Days" is their most popular song.
This song reminds me of our biblical text for today's devotion. Here are some of the lyrics to "One of These Days":
One of these days
Gonna see the hand
That took the nails from me
One of these days
Gonna hold the key to
The mansion built for me
One of these days
Gonna walk the streets of
Gold that were paved for me
One of these days
I'm gonna see my Savior face to face
One of these days
You can listen to the song here.
I watched a recent podcast featuring the Dieblers, and it was great to hear about their lives, ministry, and family. In 2007, they moved to South Africa for a couple of years, as they all needed a break. When they returned to the USA, they had 75 invitations to do concerts. But Jeromy got Multiple Sclerosis, and they were unable to perform the concerts. They served some churches in worship ministry for several years. Today, Jeromy has a coaching ministry for artists called Return and Rest.
From Jeromy's website: "Over the past 25 years, Jennifer and Jeromy Deibler have had a growing desire to work inside the local community caring for others and helping people discover what God is really like. So in 2021, they decided to leave California and move back to Franklin, TN (near Nashville) to settle a little closer to family and begin to build this dream together - what they have decided to call Return & Rest. But the real work is one-on-one, listening, caring, helping people reflect on their lives, feel their feelings, and make sense of their pain, while inviting Jesus into all of it."
