Three of our nine grandchildren have started watching this classic, and they love it. The movie is hard not to love. It has a great cast of characters, catchy songs, and a powerful story line. My favorite song is Do Re Mi; here are some of the lyrics:
DO - a deer, a female deer
RE - a drop of golden sun
MI - a name, I call myself
FA - a long, long way to run
SO - a needle pulling thread
LA - a note to follow SO
TI - a drink with jam and bread
Many years ago, my wife, Ashley, and I visited New York City for the first time. We had a blast, and we still enjoy going to the Big Apple to this day. But on this first trip, we decided to go see a Broadway show, a first for both of us. We got tickets to The Sound of Music, and it was fabulous. After the show, we noticed there were many famous actors and others in attendance that night. Even Maria von Trapp herself was at this show! Some of the children who starred in the movie (adults at this time) were there as well. We found out later that the reason for so many famous people attending was that it was the 500th showing of the hit Broadway show.
They do not make movies and shows like this very often, but oh, I wish they did! There are many biblical themes in the movie such as love, family, patriotism, heroism, and sacrifice. If you have not seen it, or if it has been a while, take a couple of hours and watch it. It will bless you.
