"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up."
(James 4:10)
Almost every week, my wife Ashley and I go to our favorite breakfast restaurant, Monument Café in Georgetown, TX. We have gotten to know some of the employees and talk to them about the Lord. One of the things we still do often is ask the waiter or waitress if there is anything we can pray about for them. It is neat when they give us a request and then stay and hear the prayer. We always try to be kind and give good tips! Gospel tracts are great, but that is not a financial tip.
Last time we were at Monument, I noticed this gentleman entering the restaurant, and I said to him, "You look a lot like Tauren Wells," and he replied, "I get that a lot." And then I said, "That is because you are Tauren Wells!" He smiled and said that he was indeed Tauren. He is well known in Christian Contemporary music. I saw him in concert with Toby Mac years ago at the HEB Center in Cedar Park, TX. I enjoy his music. The duet he did with Rascal Flatts lead singer, Gary LeVox, called "Until Grace," is powerful.
Tauren is also the pastor of Church of Whitestone in Cedar Park. While in the restaurant, we talked for a few minutes. He told me that he tells his church how grateful they are for people like me and other pastors in Austin who have been serving here for a long time. I thanked him and replied that they are reaching people we never could, and humbly he responded, "And vice versa."
The thing that stood out to me the most was how humble he and his wife Lorna were. Here is a picture of Pastor Tauren, Lorna, and their oldest son, Kaanan, along with Ashley and me:
