Do you have someone in your life that models and lives out Matthew 22:37?

People: Danny Forshee

This week's devotions are written by my son, Bryant Forshee, Lead Student Pastor for Cross Church, Springdale, AR campus.
- Pastor Danny
"He said to him, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'"

(Matthew 22:37, CSB)

I don't remember who said it, but I was told that God speaks to us through His word, His people, and the world around us. This week, I want to share with you a few people who have revealed a lot about God to me through how they live out their faith and obedience to Jesus! You may recognize some of these people; you may not. The point of this week is to highlight these people's lived-out faith and to learn a little bit about following Jesus from them! Also, as you read about people who have impacted my life, I hope you think about those who have made an impact in your own personal walk with Jesus. If the Holy Spirit brings anyone to your mind, reach out to them and encourage them in how their faithfulness to Jesus makes you want to be faithful to Jesus! Let's get started!

If you didn't know, Danny Forshee is my dad! I am his second kid, and I am so thankful to have a front row seat to what a Godly man, husband, father, and pastor looks like! One thing about growing up in the Forshee household is that we loved to go see a movie and go out to eat either before or after the movie. One thing also about growing up in the Forshee household was that we were not going to eat the food at the restaurant until we had prayed for the food AND my dad had a chance to talk to the waiter/waitress about having a relationship with Jesus! That was and is who my dad is! He is someone who has a relationship with Jesus, and this relationship impacts everything he does all the time, no matter the time or place!

All my life, I can remember my dad trying to be the best follower of Jesus he could be.

All my life, I can remember my dad trying to be the best husband that he could be to my mom.

All my life, I can remember my dad trying to be the best father to me and my siblings and now grandfather (Pops) to our kiddos.

All my life, my dad has tried (and succeeded, in my eyes) to be the best at whatever he does, because he is doing it all for the glory of God. I know he is not perfect, but I do know that he wants to live out Matthew 22:37 in all parts of his life.

I am so thankful that Pops has modeled for me what it looks like to do everything for the glory of God and to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

What about you? Do you have someone in your life that models and lives out Matthew 22:37? If you do, reach out to them and thank them for modeling that and living out the Greatest Commandment!
