"This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do."
(Joshua 1:8, CSB)
If you don't know Ashley Forshee, you're missing out! She is a great mom, an amazing grandmother (Nay Nay), a great friend, and an incredible person all around! One thing that I have learned from my sweet momma is a love and a dedication to the word of God! Having a dad as a pastor, I kind of assumed he had to love the Bible, because he was preaching it so much and had to be all in it the whole time. (It is wrong to assume that of all pastors, I know, but I was little.) However, my mom was and is always in the Bible. I remember that in many of the houses we lived in, I would come down the stairs or walk into the living room and see my mom with her Bible open, a Bible study with her, spending time in the word of God. This sight and thought has always stuck with me! I knew from a very young age that someone very near and dear to me, my mom, had a deep love for the Word of God and prioritized it being in her life. Not only was it part of her life, but it was essential to it! Thanks mom for the example of prioritizing and placing the word of God in your life; it is something I will never forget!
What about you? Do you have someone in your life who has shown you what it means to live out Joshua 1:8? Do you have someone in mind that you think of when people talk about a love for God's word? If so, reach out to them and encourage them in their walk with Jesus. Thank them for their obedience to Joshua 1:8 and their dedication and devotion to the word of God!
With a verse like this, the question also arises: What about your love for God's word? Are you meditating on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it and obey it? If reading the word is hard for you, pray that God would give you a hunger for His word! It is amazing to think that God has given us His written word to live by and to obey. Don't take it for granted, but soak up as much as you can of it! Who knows who is watching you as you spend time with Jesus? Wouldn't it be great to have a legacy like my mom does to her children that you are a person who loves the word of God?
