I have a card that I pray over each day with the elements of this circle: Love for the Lord, Love for Your Spouse, Love for Your Children, Love for Your Church Family, and Love for Those Outside Your Church. I type in the items that do not change (Spouse, Children, Family, Ministry Friends, Friends) and use the bottom of the page for more current prayer requests. I then pray over this list daily. I have a copy of the list at liftyourpastor.com that you can download if you would like to have a place to start.
Today, I will start with Love the Lord:
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength."
(Deuteronomy 6:5)
This Scripture implores us to love God first; love Him with all we have. My prayer this year has been to find God's "will" for my life. I use Romans 12:2 to help me focus on this. I look at all the "things" I do and ask God to show me which I should winnow away and which I should focus on. I ask God to help me prioritize my days, weeks, and months so that I am seeking to be in His "will" for my life. I am not saying that I always get this right; in fact, I do not many times. Keeping God at the top of my list is always the best way to live.
Over the next week, I will be writing these devotionals to help you with your daily quiet time and prayer time to God.
