What an Awesome God

The same God who created the universe loves you and has a great plan for your life.

What an Awesome God

"You shall not be terrified of them; for the LORD your God, the great and awesome God, is among you."

(Deuteronomy 7:21)

The title for today's devotion is also the title of the current #1 song in Contemporary Christian Music, sung by artist Phil Wickham. This song is similar to other Wickham's songs in that not only is it performed with musical and stylistic excellence, but more importantly, it has rich theological depth and meaning. The song, or at least the chorus, was originally written and performed by Rich Mullins. I remember listening to Mullins in the 1980s. He was very gifted. Sadly, he died in an automobile accident in 1997 when he was only 41 years old.

Here are some of my favorite lines from Wickham's version of the song:

I love how God gifts men and women to write and perform such great music and lyrics. God is indeed awesome. He loves you and has a great plan for your life. The One who created the stars, the One who raised His Son Jesus from the dead: He is the One and only true God. Let us give Him praise, for He is awesome indeed!
