My wife of almost 40 years is turning 60 in nine days. With our family in town, we threw her a surprise birthday party on Saturday. One thing she told me about her birthday was that she didn't want a party, but just to be around her family. Well, most of the time, I try to do what my wife asks (happy wife = happy life, happy spouse = happy house), but on this occasion, I did not! We surprised her, and it was so fun.

Ashley is easy to celebrate. She is the best person I have ever met. She is the same person in her private life as she is in public. She loves Jesus and spends a lot of time with Him every morning. Each week, she fasts and prays for my sons and me as we serve Christ in the Gospel ministry. Jesus is the Rock of our family. Ashley is the glue that keeps us all together! I love her with all my heart.

I have a ton of pictures of Ashley, as you can imagine. But I wanted to share this one, as it captures the joy we have in the Lord and the love we have for one another. This picture was taken with the Crazy Horse Memorial monument in the background in South Dakota. Bryant and Kyndall had adopted their son, Tabor Lane Forshee, and so we flew to South Dakota to meet our newest grandson.

Okay, one more picture! This is also one of my favorite pictures of Ashley. In this one, we are surrounded by our grandkids in our back yard. (Three had not been born yet, so that is why Macie, Miller, and Jude are not included.)

One of the neat things God has done in Ashley's life is broaden her influence especially among pastors' wives. She is getting more and more requests to speak to women in the ministry and ladies in general. She gets nervous when first asked, but then she prepares thoroughly, and God uses her powerfully.
