"...not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching."
(Hebrews 10:25, CSB)
Liberty Baptist Church, First Baptist Colleyville, First Baptist Lavaca, Great Hills Baptist Church, Prestonwood Baptist Church, and Cross Church Springdale. This is a list of the churches that I can remember being a part of throughout my life. Now, this list consists of different states, different times of my life, and a whole lot of other differences, but one thing I am thankful to be able to say about all of them is that I learned more about Jesus in them and have amazing memories from them!
Today's input is going to church! What do I mean by "going to church"? What I mean is going to a corporate gathering of believers to worship King Jesus through music and preaching, i.e. a church service.
Is going to church a priority input for you? Is being a part of a local church a priority input for you? If it is not, why not? If it is, then you know the joys of being in a local body of believers that get after worshiping and serving Jesus week in and week out!
Why include this in the list of inputs? Church, for me, is my weekly reset and my weekly priority realignment. I can come to church in the midst of a heavy, light, good, or bad week, and I can engage in worship and in the preaching and teaching of the word of God and leave encouraged and challenged at the same time. There is something about living this Christian life, doing all the "things", and then having a weekly time to solely focus on Jesus and what He has for you in a service. I also want you to understand that I am stressing the need for a church service not because I am a pastor at a church; I am doing so as a fellow follower of Jesus! There is something grounding about going to church. There is something convicting about going to church. There is something pivotal about going to church. Every Christian should engage in this week in and week out.
So, with strong encouragement and imploring to be at a church, I now ask you: how's your church input?
INPUT CHALLENGE: Commit to going to church and to making not going a rare exception.
Going to church is a pivotal input that we as followers of Jesus need in our weekly rhythm. Find a church that preaches the Bible and lifts up the name of Jesus, and go all-in!
